Overview
AudioShift ("we", "our", or "us") is a local-first desktop application. We are committed to your privacy — in fact, our entire product is built around it. AudioShift processes all speech recognition on your device. No audio data ever leaves your computer.
Information We Collect
Desktop Application
AudioShift does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. Specifically:
- No audio recordings are sent to any server
- No transcription text is sent to any server
- No usage analytics or telemetry is collected
- No API keys or accounts are required
- No network requests are made by the application
All speech-to-text processing is performed locally using the on-device Parakeet TDT model. Your transcription history is stored locally on your machine and is never transmitted.
Website
When you visit audioshift.io, we may collect:
- Basic analytics data (page views, referrer, browser type, country)
We do not use cookies for tracking. We do not collect personally identifiable information through this website.
Data Storage
AudioShift stores all data locally on your device:
- Transcription history: Stored locally, up to 500 entries, managed by you
- Application settings: Stored locally in your system's app data directory
- AI model: Downloaded once and stored locally on your device
You can delete all local data at any time by uninstalling the application or clearing its data directory.
Third-Party Services
AudioShift does not integrate with any third-party services, APIs, or cloud platforms. The application is fully self-contained and operates entirely offline.
The only external interaction is when you choose to download the application or check for updates via GitHub Releases.

AudioShift is open source. You can inspect the full source code to verify our privacy claims at github.com/aarsla/audioshift .
Children's Privacy
Our application does not collect any data from any user, including children. No personal information is gathered, stored, or transmitted.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
